Description: "A Map of the Southern Part of Lower Saxony, from the best Authorities." A genuine, antique map on laid paper, with a strong platemark. Published c1760 for John Barrow's "A New Geographical Dictionary....". The publisher was J. Coote. On the map the imprint "G Rollos sculp." shows George Rollos to have drawn it up. Rollos had been apprenticed to Thomas Kitchin in 1746, and was later found at 'Golden Head in Old Belten Street, Long Acre' (in London) from where he engraved a large number of maps. This map covers an area of North Germany that includes Hanover and Brunswick (Braunschweig). An attractive regional map with a Rococo cartouche.
