Description: British firm Dubreq is best best known as inventing the Stylophone, a simple pen-driven proto-synth from around 1970. Next, Dubreq came out with the PianoMate. The PianoMate keyboard fits on top of the a regular piano's keyboard. When the piano keys are pressed, they activate spring-driven buttons on the PianoMate overlay. Those PianoMate buttons activate a variety of early proto-synth sounds. I got this from the family of a small-town Ohio woman who ran a music teaching studio for many decades. She also sold musical instrument and gear. This was in the back of her store, apparently never used and never sold, still in the original Targ & Dinner distributor box, dated 1973. As it appears to have never been played, I'm loathe to unpack it all. Cosmetically, it's in near mint condition, or at least excellent, condition. Some of the old rubber bands holding the old gear together in the back compartment have failed and/or nearly dissolved. The soft foam backing on the piano overlays has crumbled away and must be replaced. Functionally, I'd guess that it works or partially works, but am not certain. So, it's a gamble. It is untested. Everything is here, including the old instruction manuals, an instruction 7" record, and the much-sought-after pedal. It all packs into its cabinet in a rather clever fashion. Plan on it needing some servicing, but it has the best cosmetics of any other PianoMate I can find online.
