Description: c 1940s - 22 PLATES - BIRDS OF AMERICA - JOHN JAMES AUDUBON FOR FRAMING Originally John James Audubon drew and published his bird plates between 1827-1838. His “The Birds of North America” was re-published in 1937, reprinted in 1941 and 1942, and in many iterations. Offered as a lot here are 11 horizontal and 11 vertical plates on cream colored stock measuring about 9 1/8 by 12 1/2 inches, and printed on only one side. Plates are numbered and details of each bird printed on the plate. I do not know what the original source of these plates are, but most likely from a separately printed portfolio with individual plates for framing. Below are images of the plates, and birds on each listed above my image. 302 - BLACK DUCK337 - AMERICAN BITTERN273 - ROYAL TERN308 - GREATER YELLOW-LEGS346 - PACIFIC LOON268 - AMERICAN WOODCOCK31 - BALD EAGLE307 - LITTLE BLUE HERON486 - SPRAGUE'S PIPIT282 - ICELAND GULL487 - SMITH'S LONGSPUR398 - THREE FRINGILLIDS465 - MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD271 - MAN-O'WAR-BIRD414 - TWO WARBLERS251 - BROWN PELICAN261 - SANDHILL CRANE388 - THREE ICTERIDS422 - ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK190 - YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER174 - OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER199 - SAW-WHET OWLShipping - $6.95 in US securely packed in cardboard with tracking.A view inside our Out-of-Print BookshopIn Historic Walpole, New Hampshire -- Established 1980EBAY Member since July 6, 1998Now -- over TWENTY-SIX YEARS selling on eBay
