Description: Norristown is a borough in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Located along the Schuylkill River approximately six miles northwest of Philadelphia. The area where Norristown sits was originally owned by the family of Isaac Norris, who purchased the land from William Penn in 1704. Norristown was incorporated as a borough in 1812 with about 500 people living there. Growing rapidly after the Civil War, it swelled to 22,265 people by 1900 and by 1940 it was home to 38,181 Norristonians. At its height, Norristown was an industrial, retail, banking and government center. Breweries, cigar factories, textile mills, icehouses, foundries, rolling mills and lumber yards provided ample employment for skilled laborers and artisans. In 2010, the populations was 34,324 This card was published by the “Post Card Distribution Co., Philadelphia”. It captures the “Boulevard, Elwood Park, Norristown”. It is a white border which sets a time frame of 1915 to 1930. I could not find any information on Elwood Park but plenty on the Elwood Park Zoo which I do not know if it is the Elwood Park on this card. In any event, it is a nice card of a quiet park bandstand and a lake through the trees. It is in good condition with intact corners and edges. The image is clean and clear as is the reverse. If this your card, it will be mailed promptly upon receipt of payment...... Free Shipping World Wide. Thank you for your interest and I hope that I can help you with your collection.....
