Description: Old White Tara statue from Tibet, SMALL but VERY FINE! The beautiful Tara is in excellent condition for its age, see pictures. I estimate the age at approx. 30 years.I bought them from a Tibetan in Lhasa, Tibet. White Tara: She is the mother goddess of Tibet. She is worshiped daily by Tibetans for protection. The transcendent Bodhisattva is the symbol of purity. Her right hand is open downward in the gesture of grant. In both hands she holds a lotus flower. The material is bronze. The workmanship is beautiful and very fine. She weighs almost 0.2 kilos. It is very thick-walled, hence the heavy weight. The floor below is open. Many statues are capped at the bottom and are weighted with concrete from the inside to add weight. Of course that is not the case here. Simply beautiful to put on the house altar or shrine...
