Description: Antique W R Supertine Ornate 7 1/4" Candle Snuffer/Wick Cutter w/Feet Mid 1800s Click image to enlarge Description Offered for your consideration is an antique, ornate candle wick trimmer. Made of cast metal, I would guess, that this is from the mid to late 1800s, and is created in a 'scissors' style design. It has 3 feet, all of which are very secure, with no wiggle. These snuffers were very common in the 1800s, as candles very were often used in the home for lighting. The snuffer is marked W (crown) R SUPERTINE, with a 'flower petal' design around the center rivet, and I am guessing that the snuffer is from England based on the design and marking. The wick cutter is in very good 'as found' condition, showing signs of use and handling, but no signs of any breaks of repairs. This snuffer is NOT spring loaded. The trimmer is somewhat long, measuring about 7 1/4"x 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" at the highest point of trimmer, and has a hefty weight of about 8 ounces. Perfect for display with your other primitives.
