Description: This is an intricately carved bent wood box with hinged wood--Scandinavian and probably Norwegian.Appears to have an ebonized finial About 8 inches long, 3-1/2 inches tall and 3-3/4 inches wide.The lid is attached with a pin that creates a kind of hinge and allows the box to be opened and closed. Possibly used for sugar or other food storage. Hinged piece repaired (see photo 4) and the wood that's wrapped around the side no longer meets with handle on one side (see photo #5.The carving itself is in excellent condition and displays beautifully.
