Description: Antique Art Nouveau Carved Sardonyx Shell Cameo, High Relief , in Hand Wrought 14k Rose Gold Mount with Yellow Gold Leaf decorations, and Hallmarked on the clasp. The Cameo is carved in very High Relief featuring A Bacchante maiden with grape leaves gracefully falling from her hair. The details of the carving remain crisp with no damage. The piece has obviously been carefully stored over the years. The Sardonyx Shell is a gorgeous chocolate shade. The Mount is 14k Rose Gold (marked "14k" ) and a maker's mark is stamped on the closure. A very well made high quality antique cameo, c early 1900s. A wearable work of art! The Cameo has a fold down bale allowing wear as a pendant. It also has its original pin and period fold over locking c clasp closure which is in perfect working condition. The cameo measures approximately 1 5/8" x 1 1/4". Weight is 8.1 grams.
