Description: This appealing oil on canvas from the 1840's depicts a very pretty brown eyed woman seated in a painted chair wearing an elaborate lace bonnet and lace shawl fixed with a pearl-trimmed brooch. The painting was fully conserved back in the early to mid 1900's when it was relined and mounted in the present fine quality gilt gesso and wood frame. She measures 26" x 22" and is mounted on her original stretchers; 31 1/4" x 27 1/4" are the framed dimensions. There is a small, superficial scratch above the right shoulder and there is some streakiness to the varnish. You will note slight deformation and lifting from the backing canvas upper right. The frame is in very fine condition with pleasing antique gold finish. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SHIP WORLDWIDE IF ALLOWED BY USPS. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.
