Robert Jay Arthur Jr. (1909–1969) was a writer of speculative fiction known for his work with the The Mysterious Traveler radio series and for writing The Three Investigators, a series of young adult novels. Arthur was honored twice by the Mystery Writers of America with an Edgar Award for Best Radio Drama. He also wrote scripts for television such as The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock's TV show, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Three Investigator novels numbered 10 and 12 to 43 were written by other authors. Harry Kane (Kirchner) (1912-1988) was a twentieth century American illustrator and artist who was born Harry Kirchner of Russian/Jewish descent. Primarily known for his work on the children's books, "The Three Investigators", he had a career that spanned over 50 years, doing work on paperback covers, advertising art, men's adventure magazines, movie posters and much more. This copy always privately owned. Hardcover has full color illustrated cloth boards, but no DJ. End-papers are dark blue with spooky B&W spiderweb illustration. Interior is tight, clean and unmarked. Opens as if never read. Square corners with minor edge-wear. 1st glance looks as new, but closer examination shows stains at top of rear cover & spine with no effect on interior.
