Since there is only 1 EPROM on the mainboard, there should be no confusion where you will be installing it to, remember you’re a champion and can do this. The Boot Rom in this listing is only compatible with the MPC 2000 and not the MPC 2000XL. No, this is not a MPC 2000 for sale. A couple of notes from funkdewbie @ eBay: In my years of refurbishing and repairing MPC samplers, I have often found that having this extra Boot Rom in my service parts has been useful in determining if the MPC 2000 mainboard is dead or if the Boot Rom itself is corrupted. Thankfully, replacing the Boot Rom was enough to bring a handful of MPC 2000’s back to life but don’t expect to have luck on your side every time. Keep in mind that you will still need the OS 1.72 boot disk if you want to boot your MPC 2000; the Boot Rom 1.0 is only for controlling main board and the top control board functions. If your Boot Rom is corrupted for any reason, it will not boot any OS 1.72 disk no matter how many you try. [If you need the OS 1.72 disk as well, send me a message and we’ll work it out.] Before purchasing, try removing the Boot Rom that you already have and reinsert it back into the socket. Sometimes that is all it takes to get it working again. Be sure to take note of the marked orientation notch on the side of the EPROM to ensure correct installation. EPROMS inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also likely to cause damage to the board. Rest assured that all EPROM upgrades I send are packaged in anti static reusable packaging and inserted into a bubble mailer. I send all international packages via airmail parcel in order to ensure that your EPROMS arrive safely and in a reasonable time frame.
