She trained at Rotherham College and then Bromley School of Art and works mainly in watercolours. Margaret’s work has been described as a powerful and beautiful historical record of life in northern working class households After training at Bromley College of art she returned to her roots in South Yorkshire and taught art for many years in secondary education The increasing demand for her nostalgic original watercolours and prints reflect the growing interest shared by many throughout the country of life in the 1940s and 1950s Her paintings make people smile as they remember a time when in Margaret’s own words we had nothing but we had the world when Time stood still and people were important A lot of her pictures are however based on memories from her own childhood days and humour plays a very important part People remember those days are good times regardless of whether or not they actually were It’s a great feeling to make people smile Her pictures do just that and are now highly collectible The Remarque makes it a unique piece of art.
