2 Georgian Sterling Silver Tablespoons in Case (8”)

Description: 2 Georgian Sterling Silver Tablespoons Click image to enlarge Description This beautiful set comprises 2 tablespoons which are made from sterling silver in the Old English Pattern. The stems are Bright-Cut engraved and feature a potted fern below oval cartouches to the terminals which are engraved with the initials ‘A I*W’. Both are hallmarked for Exeter 1803 with the maker’s mark of Richard Ferris. They are presented in a brown coloured case with lockable clasp, blue silk lining to the lid and blue velvet to the base. Although the case is old, I suspect it was made for the spoons during the mid Victoria era. The spoons are generally in good condition with no wear and the decorative detail is nice and crisp. To the heel of one spoon, there are 4 small dints which aren’t highly noticeable unless they catch the light. To the heel of the other spoon, there is one similar dint – please see the photos. Please be aware that, after 221 years, there will be some fine surface abrasions and some tiny nicks around the edges of the bowls caused through handling. The case is in good order with just some light scuffing to the exterior. The clasp shuts securely. The silk lining has 2 small holes from contact with the spoons. The velvet has some wear where the spoons have rested on it.
