Description: A particularly scarce 1944 dated British Airborne Helmet (HSAT – Helmets Steel Airborne Troops) in an exceptionally large size 8 1/8 roughly 62cms so will also fit well to a 59cms head. Produced by BMB the shell retains the original granulated green factory finish to the inside, the outside with a later paint applied, along with a hand painted pair of Parachute qualification wings. The shell without damage and complete with a later Helmet net. Inside, the leather sweatband is stamped to the manufacturer with the size and date, the leather itself showing light service use with some damage on the right side. The sorbo rubber is intact and still supple. The chin cup is very good, the bump pad is in place as is the excellent cotton web harness. Overall, a very good early example of the type in a seldom found extra large size.
