Description: The two pence are exactly as shown in thepicture This 1945 Lincoln Wheat Penny is a rare findfor collectors. The penny has been circulated but still maintains its originalstriking quality. The 1945 Lincoln cents are small coins from the Wheat pennyseries minted in three US Mints. This series appeared in 1909 after Victor D.Brenner’s design. The goal was to celebrate the 100th birthday of the 16thAmerican President, Abraham Lincoln. As you know, the 1945 Wheat penniesoccurred in circulation during the final year of WWII, making them historicallyvaluable. Rumors said that a part of the mintage contained the ammunitionshells left after military training, like many other cents minted from 1944 to1946. Problems appeared in the middle of WWII because of coppershortages. After short-lived changes in composition and zinc-plated steel pennyproduction in 1943, coins in 1945 were made the same way as pre-war ones. This 1940 Lincoln Wheat Penny is a rare findfor collectors. The penny has been circulated but still maintains its originalstriking quality. The pennies made in 1940 were95 per cent copper, and 5 per cent tin and zinc. It was the same compositionthat had been used for the earliest wheat pennies. But soon afterwards, US involvement in the Second World War sawshortages of both copper and tin. Production of bronze cents was cut dramaticallyin 1942, before ceasing altogether until 1944. In the intervening years, pennies were instead made from steel coated in zinc.
