Photographed at Memphis TN in 1935 by the documentary photographer Charles Medin. An ICRR "family dinner" was a quaint term for a gathering of Illinois Central Railroad employees (most if not all men) who would gather for a grand dinner at a fine hotel in a different city each year. On the day a special train would pick them up at various stops along the ICRR line. Their destination in 1935 was the Hotel Peabody, Memphis. Shown are M.M. Hanning, Commercial Agent, Nashville // C.W. Lamb, Commercial Agent, San Antonio // E.J. Monnes (sp?) City Freight Agent, New Orleans // J.P. Houston, Division Traffic Agent, Dubuque // and H. Berg, Commercial Agent, Detroit. Charles Medin was artist/photographer and then assistant editor of the Illinois Central Magazine, circa 1900s to 1949.
