Description: These vintage 1930s art deco bronze bookends are extremely hard to find. These are typically traced back to Austria or Germany. Art deco artists of the 20s and 30s enjoyed using more exotic birds as subjects in their creations. These do show some elements of cubism with the sharp, long beaks and exaggerated features. They are potentially vultures or Maribou stork, but definitely some type of domineering carrion bird. One shows some slight patina on the front, and standard wear on the back, included in the photos. These are extremely difficult to come across, so grab them while you can! Each measures 2.5" x 5.5" x 6.5" with a weight of around 4lbs each.
