Printed for official use only, containing highly confidential subjects at the time of printing. An important pamphlet prepared at the request of Officers from the Indian Expeditionary Force "D," the largest of the Indian Army forces to serve abroad during the First World War. In the Mesopotamian campaign they served under the command of Major General Barrett and, after a string of early successes, the campaign was delivered significant setbacks at the Battle of Ctesiphon and the Siege of Kut. The pamphlet provides accounts of the political status of Mesopotamia and neighbouring countries throughout the war, exploring the trend of policy in the Arabistan province of Iran, the Bakhtiari and Pusht-i-Kuh tribes of Iran, as well as Central Arabia. This work is commonly attributed to Sir Arnold Talbot Wilson, a British soldier, colonial administrator, Conservative politician, writer and editor. Wilson served under Percy Cox, the colonial administrator of Mesopotamia during the First World War and an Iraqi revolt in 1920. CONDITION In the original green cloth wrappers.
