Description: 1890’s to 1900’s Waterman Gymnasium cabinet card. Unknown publisher. Waterman Gymnasium opened in 1893. The Michigan Wolverines basketball team played their homes games there until the 1920’s. The gym was never an ideal venue for an athletic team. The gym was originally opened for student use. Teams had to share usage with the students. In 1924 the basketball team started using the Fielding Yost Field House for games. Cabibet is a little over 5 by 7 inch. Stains, toning and wear.
