Caesar Augustus, also known as Octavian (63 BC - AD 14), was the founder of the Roman Empire, and he reigned as the first Roman emperor from 27 BC until his death in AD 14. His maternal great-uncle was Julius Caesar, and Octavius was named in Caesar's will as his adopted son and heir. Thomas Blackwell the younger (1701-1757) was a classical scholar, historian and one of the leading figures in the Scottish Enlightenment. His other notable works include "An Enquiry into the Life and Writings of Homer" (1735) and "Letters Concerning Mythology" (1748). Although this is in poor condition, it is a first edition of Vol. III, which was published posthumously. FORN-MSB-0823-0738-HK513
